Winning at all Costs? or is it about Participating?

After each triathlon I complete, I reflect on how I performed: what I could have done better and start planning how I shall perform better for the next event.

As some of you may know, I have completed my first triathlon of the year. This was one of my biggest achievements because, I was returning from injury. I had a shoulder operation in December and only three weeks before the Lisbon Triathlon, I doubted whether I could race.

Lisbon Olympic Triathlon – The Results
What I loved the most about Lisbon Olympic Triathlon was my strength and resolution to “just keep running at all costs DO NOT STOP.

I feel like a pro competing for my country.
I feel like a pro competing for my country.

For me it was not just about the participating, it was about knowing that if I stopped running, then what was the point of all the years of training? OR of having a shoulder operation and overcoming the difficulties in returning to Triathlons post op? IT WAS NOT ENOUGH TO PARTICIPATE, I HAD TO GIVE IT ALL and just keep running.

This strength of mind gave me strength to perform and I completed the Lisbon Olympic Triathlon in 3 hours: 7 minutes and 25 seconds. A personal best and great for only 2 months training and being a stone overweight!

A PB of 3 hours and 7 minutes. I can wear my finisher T-shirt and Medal with pride especially coming back from my shoulder operation in December 2014.

Focus your mind – believe in yourself and WIN
I love this video that my friend and fellow Triathlete Martin Ball posted on his twitter account.

You can visit his excellent site by clicking on this link. BUT WATCH THIS FIRST and let me know your thoughts, I am interested to hear them:

Don’t you think Katie Hopkins would like this Little League pre game coaching?

What type of person are you?
Remember there are 2 types of people in this world. There are Winners and there are loosers.

Here are the goals
1. Hit Dingers
2. Disgrace Pitchers Families
3. Make other players cry
4. Stomp their butts into the ground

What pep talk do you give yourself and how has it motivated you to perform your best?
